Lieutenant Svonn ... "Time Goes ON" ... posted 060620

ON

Several months had passed since the assault on the rebel base. The Athena had jumped to warp and went to assist the shuttles that had gone to fight alongside the rebel forces. . While they were able to hold of the Enclave forces long enough for the rebel forces to escape the Enclave, it was not without them paying the price. The Enclave had pursued the Federation ship, and inflicted considerable damage to the warp engines. They were forced to travel at warp two, which was easily met by pursuing Enclave ships. Subspace communications had been out so they could not even contact the slip-stream communications relay that the Eagle had set up to contact them. The one saving grace, engineering got the cloak working again.

Svonn sat in the command chair and looked at the latest crew reports. Dr. Fyrstk and Counselor Damaris, both, reported crew morale extremely low. THe highs the crew as feeling after the contact by the USS Eagle and the saving of the rebel forces were quickly fading, being replaced with comments like, "Starfleet doesn't care about us," and "They know we're out here and are doing NOTHING to save us." All evidence seemed to be pointing in that same direction.

Svonn's attention to the crw report was taken away by the sound of the communications board. By the sound of the beep< Svonn knew it was the Starfleet priority channel.

Tak sat at the Ops console when the signal came in. She saw the priority signal, and turned towards Svonn. "Captain. I have something on the comm channel."

Svonn had already known that, but question was, "From who?" He turned towards the OPS station. "Is the incoming signal identifying itself?"

"Yes sir. It's the Eagle Captain."

"The Eagle?" Svonn said wit a raised eyebrow. "And she is using a Starfleet priority channel, and not the slip-stream communications relay?"

"Yessir. They have to be in the beta quadrant."

"Do not answer the call," Svonn instructed. "This could be a trap by the Enclave. See if you can pinpoint their location."

"Yessir." Tak attempted to triangulate the location. Once she found the location, she double checked it. It didn't make sense for the signal to be coming from barren location, but that's where it was coming from.

"Captain. I have the location."

"Put it onscreen, and give your analysis."

"Aye Captain." Puts the area on screen, "It's suppose to be baren sir."

Svonn studied the area for a moment. If there was one positive thing he could remark about the Enclave it would be their ability to adapt to an enemy. He would not put it past them to be able to duplicate a signal sent on a Starfleet priority channel and send it out to entrap the Athena. Could they have done something similar to trap the USS Eagle?

"Miss Ch'Ren? How long at our current maximum warp until we reach that system?"

Tak checked the readings. "If we pushed our engines. We could be there in 30 minutes sir. But, we would be seriously pushing the engines. We may not be able to make warp again without huge repairs Captain."

"Very well," Svonn said. "Send coordinates to helm. Helm, set course maximum warp. Miss ch'Ren, Lt. Takaram, keep constant scans of that area. If anything sould change, we will veer off, but for the moment we must assume it is the Eagle and they wish to meet up with us."

Lt. Svonn ... "Battle, Again" ... posted 060626

OFF

This occurs just prior to and during the USS Eagle sim of 060622

ON

It was confirmed. The Federation ship, USS Eagle, was indeed in Enclave territory and now under attack. Sensor reports showed at least twenty Enclave warships now on the attack against the Intrepid-class starship. While that was one of Starfleet's quickest and more maneuverable ships, it was overwhelmed with the number of Enclave ships.

As they neared the sector, Svonn had the Athena brought to impulse speeds. He had three Romulan assault shuttles, led by Lt Takaram, and three Starhawk III small wing fighters launched and sent into the fray. Svonn then ordered the Athena to the opposite end of the system, where three more Starhawks weer launched. Athena followed them into the fight.

Tactical displays showed the Eagle was holding up under the onslaught of the Enclave ships, but her sheilds would not hold out against the constant pounding they were being subjected to. As the red alert was sounded throughout the ship, Svonn opened the shipwide comm system.

"All hands," he said in his usual calm demeanor. "We are going in to assist our sister-ship, the USS Eagle. This is not a drill. Sickbay prepare for possible casualties from the Eagle."

Lt. Svonn . Arrain Takaram
"Attack On the Pinta" ... posted 060817

Note: This takes place directly after the USS Eagle Sim of 060816

ON

"Tactical report, Arrain Takaram?" Svonn requested from the command seat.

"We are now within sensor range of the ship in distress," the Romulan answered. "I do not recognise the class of ship, but it is registering as the USS Pinta. It has currently engaged three Enclave ships, and...." he added with an air of surprise in his voice, "... it seems to be holding it's own. Two more ENclave ships are now entering the system as well."

"Drop the cloak as we enter the system and target the two new arrivals," Svonn ordered calmly. "Estimated time of arrival for their reinforcements?"

"A total of five mre vessels are enroute," Takaram reported. "The first two will arrive in three minutes, the second two in five."

"Acknowledged," Svonn said. "Make your shots to disable only, Arrain."

"Ie, Captain," Takaram responded, though you could hear in his tone he was not happy with it. Why leave an enemy alive to take another shot at you. Fleeters, Vulcans especially never seem to grasp that concept.

The larger, Artemis-class ship swooped intot he system, and immediately decloaked. The two Enclave ships tht were her target reacted to her presence, but one of them was not quick enough and fell prey to Takaram's deft handling of the ship's weaponry. One of the three Enclave ships which had been making attack runs on the Pinta, turned it's attention to the Athena. Power phaser pulses shot out from the Pinta completely destroying an Enclave ship.

"That is the way to deal with an enemy," Takaram said in a low voice, but not so low that it was not heard by the commanding officer.

"It is not my way or standard procedure for a Starfleet vessel, Arrain," Svonn said evenly. Before the Romulan could uter another reply, the voice of the replacement OPS officer called out.

Captain, The USS Eagle is hailing us."

Commander Gwen Marqusa Lt. Svonn
"Command Briefing," ... posted 060906

:ON:

Gwen sat at the head of the conference table in the conference room. It still seemed a little odd to her to be sitting in this position. She looked over at the Vulcan who had already been in command of this ship for a while. He didn't appear phased by any of this. Of course, that was typical for a Vulcan.

"I need to know everything there is to know about this ship. However, at the moment I'll settle for the essentials. I need a basic rundown on the senior officers, the equipment on this ship, any modifications that have been made since arriving in this quadrant, the situation with the Romulans, and any other information you deem pertinent.

"Let's start off with the senior officers."

Svonn sat forward to the table and passed a data padd over to Gwen. "This contains the personnel file we have had on record, or have recorded since we have been trapped in the Beta Quadrant.

Gwen took the PADD, and glanced over it while Svonn talked. She would definitely read it much more in-depth when she found a few moments of time. For now, she'd have to go on the information that the Lieutenant gave her.

"First up, of course is myself. I was the highest ranking officer with command training, so it was only logical that I take command.

"Arrain Takaram, is the commanding officer of the Romulans. HE is an excellent tactical officer. Even though he may protest about an order, he will follow whatever orders he is given.

"Lt. Railinton, was the Delta shift Officer of the deck. She has proven to be very competent in command situations. She was also quite successful in the commanding of an away mission where we assisted rebel forces.

"Our chief medical is Dr. Noah Fyrstk. I believe you are somewhat familiar with him. Correct?"

"I am somewhat familiar with him. From what I've heard, he's a good medical officer."

"Takela ch'Ren is currently our OPS officer. She is a native of this quadrant. She has also proven very valuable with information about races we come across.

"Ensign Lee Friedman is our chief engineer. He has also risen to the task and proven to be a valuable asset to this ship. There are quite a few promotions denoted in there you may wish to consider, Captain."

"I will. I wish I had the authority to promote the Romulan Officers as well. However, that is not possible at the moment.

"What about the science department?"

"We have a very small contingent of science officers at this time, sir. For the most part Miss ch'Ren has been working in that capacity as well."

Gwen nodded thoughtfully, "Any conflicts between personnel that I should know about? I don't mean minor ones, but ones that appear to be ongoing."

Svonn searched his memory. Counselor Damaris has only reported the morale problem of late, when the crew started to believe Starfleet did not care we were out here."

"So, there doesn't appear to be much tension between the Romulan Officers and the Starfleet Officers?"

"No, sir," Svonn said evenly. "We did have skirmishes in the beginning. Some pretty violent ones as a matter of fact, but with the Enclave to worry about, everyone has set aside differences and worked well together."

"That's good to know. Do you believe the Romulan Officers are loyal to the ship, or just to Arrain Takaram, or maybe a little of both?"

"My estimation would be more towards Takaram than the ship, sir."

Gwen nodded, "That is what I would have expected. I hope this is not even a remote possibility, but it is a question I must ask. Should they choose to revolt or mutiny, how much of a chance of success would they have and how likely is it that they might try?"

"There is always the possibility that they could try, Captain," Svonn said "The probabilities have lessened with each week we have been here. As of this time, I would estimate their chances of success to be 34.9859 percent successful, sir."

Gwen couldn't help but grin at that. Leave it to a Vulcan to be that accurate. With any other officer she might have questioned further to figure out how he had come about with his answer. But, she didn't feel that was necessary in Svonn's case.

"That's good to know. Any other issues or information in regards to personnel that you feel it is important for me to know at this time?"

A look of slight embarrassment came across Svonn's face, but then was immediately washed away. "I just realized I could have been in error, sir. Not with the percentage of their success, however . . . The probabilities could increase significantly now, should it become common knowledge their government has not spoken up concerning their return. I apologize."

"That is quite all right Svonn. What do you think would be best to ease that information or abate the repercussions it might have?"

"I think, in light of this T'Kil threat to the Alpha Quadrant, to emphasize the importance of our continued joint mission in this quadrant, sir. I believe your ship has data from a mock simulation of the T'Kil against Romulan warbirds, is that not correct, sir?"

Gwen smiled, "That is correct. The Romulan Empire was none too pleased with the data themselves. It probably has forced their hand a little bit more in being more cooperative. I think it might be a good idea to share the mock simulation of the T'Kil with the entire senior staff, both the simulation against the Romulan warbirds and against federation ships."

"I agree, Captain," Svonn said. "What about the data on the tried take-over of the Empire by the Remans, and the new spirit of cooperation between the Federation and the Empire?"

"I think a full debriefing on the matters that have transpired in the Alpha/Beta Quadrant would be a good idea. The Athena's databanks have been synched with the Eagles, and all information has been transferred. I, myself, have brought along some more classified information, which includes information on the T'Kil.

"When we are done here, we should call a Senior Officers meeting.

"Anything else on personnel matters before we move on?"

"No, sir. Nothing that needs to come out at the moment. There are notable activities of other officers, but they are all spelled out in the PADD, Sir."

She nodded, "I will look over them at first chance.

"Next is equipment. What is the shape of the Athena's equipment, also what modifications have been made since arrival in this corner of the Beta Quadrant?"

Svonn slid a second padd over to Gwen. "The warp drive had been damaged quite badly in the rebel assault battle. For the longest time, up to and including when we met up with the Eagle, we were only able to achieve warp 5 and we could not sustain that speed for more than an hour.

"All weapons systems have been improved upon, by Takaram. Engineering, with the combined help of the Romulans, has managed to keep the cloak working to almost 98.33 percent efficiency.

"Minor systems, like holodecks and the science las have been more neglect but are not unrepairable."

"Before the Eagle leaves, is there anything that we could use from the ship that would improve upon the conditions of the warp drive and engineering?"

"Nothing more from the Eagle, Captain," Svonn said. "Commander Haas has been quite generous in replicating more equipment to the point we can handle our own replication again."

"Good. I'm going to want Engineering to work on getting this ship to be able to maintain warp 7 for 12 hours. However, that does not need to be done instantly. No sense in overworking the crew unnecessarily.

"Is there any other information about the Athena, her crew, her mission, or anything in general you feel it is important that I know?"

"Nothing of importance, Captain."

"All right. Then I'm going to share with you some information on the T'Kil. More information then I plan on giving the rest of the Senior Officers at this time."

Chief Medical Officer's Log, Stardate 60361

The rumor mill cain be a wonderful thing. Gwen, Commander Marqusa, hasn't been on the ship 24 hours and Ah have seen a moral eimprovement.  It could be this whole encounter with the Eagle, or it could be that Starfleet has fahnally acknowledged our continued existence.  No matter what, Ah have sen smahles on some people Ah haven't seen for quahte some tahme.

The one thing Ah hope this doesn't do, is alienate the Romulan crew.  Ah aim hoping Commander Marqusa has some good news for them as well.  If not, we could see some rahse in skirmishes between the Starfleet and Romulan personell.  Ah will be conferfing with Counselor Danaris, and hopefully we cain keep on top of it.

The department heads meting was not for another two hours, so Svonn decided he would go to get a bite.  As always, he made his way to the mess hall.  Inside he saw a couple of Romulan officers who suddenly avoided eye contact with him. USually they would respectfully nod.  This was certainly odd.  Still Svonn went about his usual routine, getting his meal and sitting at the same table he always did.

JhuRhiana walked into the mess hall.  She had been busy most of the morning piloting the shuttle which was sent to retrieve the shuttle wreckage from the planet surface.  She looked over to the usual spot and saw Svonn sitting there by himself.  Yeah, she'd heard.  Starfleet was demoting him.  Taking away his command.  After all this time of seeing not only his own crewmates but her crewmates as well, safely through this hostile area of space, this is how Starfleet repays him.  Well she still elieved in him, and she was going to let him know that if he wanted to stand up against this new "captain,"  she would support him.

JhuRhiana ordered her meal and walked over to his table.  "May I join you?"

"Of course, Erein," Svonn said looking up from his meal.  He had actually been looking forward to her doing just that.  He was developing a fondness for her.  Maybe now.. or once the new CO took over, he could pay more attention to things like a social life.

"Are you not angry?" JhuRhiana asked as she sat down across from him.

"To say I am angry would mean I have emotions," Svonn said evenly.  "Were I to have emotions, what should I be angry about?"

"That your Starfleet superiors have demoted you."

"I have not been demoted," Svonn replied.  "I am stil a lieutenant."

"But, they have taken away your command," JhuRhiana said.  "Replaced you with that officer fomr the Eagle. if not angry, then you must feel disgraced."

"I am neither disgraced nor angry," Svonn said evenly.  "That would explain, however, why others of the Rihannsu crew have been avoiding me.  I have no desire to retain command of this vessel. I only took command because I was the most logical oficer to do so."

"No desire to command?" She asked incredulously.  "I thought it was every officer's desire to have their own command.  There are times, Mr. Svonn, the Vulcan race puzzles me."

"Thank you, Erein,"  Svonn said, actually forcing himself not to smile.  He sometimes had trouble keeping his emotions in check, and more so around JhuRhiana.  Svonn wasn't certain why.  "I shall take that as a compliment."
