Duty-Personal- Story

:ON:

As Gwen's shift ended, lots of things ran through her mind. She looked around the bridge one last time as her relief came and started to do his initial checks and protocols and such. She couldn't help but smile to him as he saw the sensor readings and looked up at her in shock. Without saying a word she headed off to the TL to head back to her quarters for a bit.

Gwen finally made it back to her quarters and sat down on her bed. She decided that since she was alone for a moment, and since she had so many thoughts going through her head, now would be a good time to fill out her Personal and Duty logs, starting with her personal log first of course.

"Computer. Open Personal Log. Stardate 0304.23" She waited for the computer to chirp back in it's usual, unchanging form, and shook her head for a moment, thinking that the computer reminded her a little of Ratch.

"This has been one VERY confusing day to say the least! There is so much to say, that I'm not sure even where to begin. Someone once told me that the best place to begin is, well, at the begining. For lack of another, I guess that's where I shall start.

"The encounter with the CO and XO that took place was--" She paused trying to think of the right word to use, "Confusing to say the least. Some of it was expected, others wasn't. The Captain gave a short lecture, but it wasn't really bad or anything like that. Espeically one Rommie told him that we had followed protocol. Although I didn't say it at the time, I really hadn't followed the protocol. I mean, I took a sip of that water before Ratch said what her readings were.

"The confusing part didn't start until after this point. Ratch was so damn insistent that it was all her fault, and I don't see where she could even begin to have such ideas. She scaned the food and the water. The readings she got back told her that it was safe. Why did she have any reason to doubt those readings??? I says she should." Gwen paused, to calm herself down a little. Talking about it just seemed to bring back the irritation and annoyance she felt. "Anyways, I guess considering how she reacted towards going on shoreleave should have made that expected as well, but, it was still rather annoying.
"Then, if things weren't confusing enough, the XO started to holler." She had to stop and grin at this for a moment, then continued, "His holloring was not confusing, it was rather understandable. What was confusing was the--" She paused again to try to come up with the right word to use. Talking about her empathic abilities always made Gwen catch her tongue a little. She never really knew the right words to properly explain what she was feeling. "I guess the word would be the 'mood' of the room. It really was unexpected.

"The only anger coming from the room came from . . . Ratch. The fact that Ratch seemed angry is, well, confusing as all get out. She was after all the one who said it was all her fault, then she gets angry when the commander yells at us? I don't understand that at all.

""The other confusing--" What is the right word????? "--feeling, came from the Commodore himself. I am not sure exactly what he was feeling or anything, never been too good at that. However, I got the distinct impression that he was trying not to laugh. I may be silly in thinking this, but, I can't help but think it. My empathic Abilities have always come out more or less as intuition, and I've learned to trust my gut feelings. My gut feelings told me that this situation wasn't nearly as serious as the outward apparence would indicate. I really could be wrong on this, but, well, I doubt it."

"Gwen stopped and wondered if she wanted to close the log there, then she remembered something else that happened. Another incident with Ratch. The ensign really confused the heck out of her, and she wasn't sure what she wanted to do about it, or what should be done about it, if anything.

""Back on the bridge Ratch kept up with the self put downs. She wouldn't listen to reason or anything. She's a science officer and yet she wouldn't listen to any logic! If Rommie hadn't 'stepped' in I probably would have done or said something that really was unbecoming a starfleet officer. I really will have to find a way to thank him for that. I need to find away to not let her get to me so much. Maybe if I were to talk to her and find out what's going on. It would definately have to be off duty, or she's lible to call me Sir again!

     ""Computer, close personal log."

" Gwen closed her eyes for a minute, trying to relax. She knew she had to do a duty log, but didn't want her voice to indicate her emotions at all, and she needed time to collect her thoughts.

"Gwen stood up and paced the room a bit, trying to decide one what exactly she wanted to say for her duty log entry. Back at the academy they had gone over things that you were suppose to put in your duty log, but Gwen had only been half listening at the time. It seemed rather intuitive to her about what went in and what didn't. Whatever was duty related went in, everything else didn't. Including emotions. Back then everything seemed clear cut. It was easy to tell what was related to duty and what wasn't. The same thing couldn't be said now.

"Gwen decided that she had always trusted her instincts before, why stop now. Of course, she thought, My instincts told me the "water" was fine. She couldn't help but chuckle at that thought. Still, she had nothing to lose. If worse came to worse, she could delete the log and start over.

""Computer. Open duty log. Stardate 0304.23"

""Log open." The computer chimed back in it's usual manner.

""After an incident occured down on the planet, it came to the attention of the Captain that our sensors might not be reading accurately. He ordered Ensigns Haas, Hamza, and myself to check our sensors to make sure that the information we got from them were accurate. I started working on the tactical analysis and other senor readouts. They seemed to be okay, however there really was no way to be sure. Thankfully Ensign Haas had the bright idea to compare our readings with those from the city ship. After comparing the readings we were each able to adjust our stations accordingly, so as to give accurate information. I hope to remember that when we return to our universe, that we need to readjust the sensors again.

""Computer. Replay Duty Log." Gwen sat down and listened carefully to what she had said. It seemed . . . awkward to her, but also accurate. She decided that the exact nature of what occured down on the planet and the subsequent "lecture" did not need to be reported in the Tactical Officer's duty log. While it might pertain to duty, and was, after all, the cause for readjusting the sensors, it was not necessary to be placed in her log. Commodore Fyrstk and Commander Bass could place that information in their logs if they wished.

""Computer, close duty log." She didn't even wait for the computer to reply. Instead the young officer headed out of her quarters, deciding to spend a little time in the lounge. She needed to unwind and relax a little. That was what the shore leave was about. Unfortunately, her shoreleave only caused more stress and little relaxation.

"Ratchet Hamza left the Ready Room not at all happy with the outcome of things. While she had been ready to take the blame for not properly scanning the drinks she did not feel anyone had the right to scold her for dishonoring the ship. She was not the one who had drunk from the "water" nor was she the one to act like a drunken idiot. If she had not been there who knew what chaos the other two could have caused. Ratchet did not believe in drinking alcohol. In her mind she could not understand why anyone would be willing to drink something to make themselves act stupid and brainless. She was very happy with her present state of mind thank you very much and did not need chemicals to alter it. She was even known to refuse synthale.
"She was definently not looking foward to reporting to Lieutenant Commander Bass. Was he going to give her another lecture on how she did not behave herself on the planet surface? On how her manner on the planets surface had been appalling? She had not wanted to report for shore leave in the first place, had preffered to remain on the ship and continue her research. She should probably take a walk to cool down before reporting to him. She scowled to herself. She did not need this as a learning tool. Did the Commodore think she not have a modicum of common sense? She felt it unfair she had to listen to the lecture on behavior when she had behaved. She scowled down at her station working over the scanners. Sometimes, or rather most of the time she just did not understand people.
"Especially the Commodore's whacked out comment on the highly alcoholic water being "the good stuff" If he had been the one getting the lecture she doubted he would think of it in such light.

:The panther sat at his desk in his quarters and looked about the rooms. It had seemed like years since he had been here. he was told he had been rendered unconscious from a malfunction of his bio clastic computer. but now it was fixed and he was back in the place he had started to see as home now. Odd he called his home a place full of those that were not like his own kind at all and now he thought of them as his family now. He laughed softly: Well i am back aboard the Eagle now and nothing has changed I believe. Some new members of the crew i think but I don’t know for sure. I have yet to take my runs of the ship and the crew once more. I guess I need to make sure I talk to the captain and see what I have missed over the past week or so I think. The date escapes me it seems but I guess that is to be expected. My memory is still fuzzy though. :sits in front of his computer as he looks over the information that the Improper sent over to the eagle before we went though the rift. : Hmmm well seems the Imperprex is giving out our technology now... He must really trust the captain to do this.: he goes over the design for weapons, sensor packages, new drive designs as well as defensive systems.: well I guess he wants to make sure that the Eagle is capable of blowing up a plant now: he laughs and turns off the computer screen: I must send a thank you to my dear friend for doing this for my new family...: he sighs softly and leans back in his chair: I wonder how they enjoyed the trip to the colony? I heard that Haas and gown got to taste some of the Ka'Uil on while on shore leave. Hmm intesting stuff. No effect on anyone of the species from home yet it seems to have much a kick for humans and such from here. how odd. I must make sure to look that up next time I go home. Ambassador Alosar Koebera

Personal Log, Jody Eddings:
"Being relatively new to this ship, I am still learning the ins and outs of my new CO. I have been able to discover that he is married to another ship's CO and has four children. The XO is a decent sort who seems to know when to be tough and when not to be. He shows a real concern over his ship and cremates. The CMO is the one I've spent the most time with. He's a unique individual who has a rare sense of humor anyway. I hope to get to know the rest of ship mates as time goes on. Maybe make a few friends along the way.

"Currently we are trying to get home. Will it be successful? Will we all end up so much space dust? I guess only time will tell and a whole lot of luck to boot.

"Gwenivere stood at her tactical station. From her vantage point she could look out and see most of the bridge. She could see the XO who sat at the helm expertly flying the ship. She could see Ratch at her science station, busy working hard, trying to find answers she did not have. She could see the CO standing in the middle of the ship. She could see Rommie opposite her, busy working. She could see all this, if she had been looking around.

"Instead, the tactical officer was busy scanning and annalysing the Kazon ship, looking for weaknesses, and good points for her to target. She heard Lukas give out commands for Rommie and Ratch to study up on the Kazon, and she figured she better too. Maybe the computer would have some tactical information about the Kazon. Some move that they do that opens up vulnerabilities, if only for a moment. Gwen needed to know those, if they stood a chance in a firefight.

"She started to search through the database, while still keeping a close eye on the attacking vessel and an ear open for any possible commands that might come her way. The ensign hadn't always been good at multi-tasking. But with the help of Captain McDoogle she had learned to become pretty good at it. It had been an essential skill in order to pass the tactical school. And it would be an essential skill here, now, at this moment. Most likely it would be essential at moments in the future. But neither the past, nor the future were of much importance right now. They never would be in a firefight.

Ensign Hamza brightened upon hearing the order given to her. Now was her chance to show the Commodore she knew what she was doing. Drinking, having fun and shoreleave were not her thing. Research and science she understood. Her library computer was a friend she could always rely on, never got angry at her, and always provided her with the information she needed. In seconds she had was bringing up all available information on the Kazon. They were if nothing else a very interesting peoples. She only wished there was more available data on them.

A History of the Kazon:
Before the Kazon were conquered by the Trabe they were the most culturally and technologically advanced people on the Delta Quadrant. The Trabe and the Kazon shared a homeworld To ease in their conquest and subsequent control the Trabe encouraged the various Kazon sects (see below for a list of known sects) to fight among themselves. This was unknown to the Kazon. The Trabe, like the Kazon, were a highly evolved species possessing also very advanced technology and producing many widely artists and scholars. The Trabe's conguest of the Kazon was not widely known, them being in control of all information on their world.

The Kazon finally overthrew the controlling Trabe in 2346 when Jal Sankur united the Kazon people.

By then the Kazon no longer possessed most of their advanced technology. They were forced to steal ships from the Trabe to return themselves back to the status of a spacefaring people.

From then on the Kazon persecuted the Trabe, hunting them down, preventing them from settling in a new homeworld. The Trabe are now a Nomads, traveling in caravans and trying to avoid the Kazon who seak revenge on their past conquerers.

On Stardate 48315.6 Captain Kathryn Janeway and the crew of the USS Voyager first encountered the Kazon.

On Stardate 48658.2 it was learned that Ensign Seska was in actuality a Cardassian agent and that she was selling Federation Replicator technology to the Kazons.

On Stardate 49211.5 the Starship Voyager was attacked in a daring raid led by Ensign Seska and First Maje Jal Culluh of the Kazon-Nistrim.

On Stardate 49337.4 the Trabe leader Mabus formed an alliance with the Federation Starship USS Voyager. Mabus claimed he hoped to hold a peace conference between the Trabe and Kazon however it was later discovered this was only a plot by the Trabe leader to try and assasinate the Kazon First Majes (leader of each sect)
General Information on the Kazon: The Kazon are a very territorial. Borders between sects change almost daily. In fact the number of sects can also change daily.

The Kazon do not posses replicator, transporter or other such technologies. Their ships are stolen Trabe vessels.

The Kazon's hatred of the Trabe uniforms has spilled over to a hatred of the Starfleet officer's uniforms.

The Borg call the Kazon species 329 but do not consider them worthy of assimilation.

The Kazon sect leader is called the First Maje

Common Ships used by the Kazon:
The Kazon Carrior: ]1]
"Also called the mother ship - 1800 meters in length. Possessing of Warp drive and shielding that can withstand limited phaser fire. Very close in size to the D'Deridex Romulan Warbird but not as powerful.

Kazon Torpedo: [2]
"A small shuttle, only around 8 meters in length. Possessing an enforced arrowhead-like front and very different in design then the standard Kazon raider, fighter or shuttle. This ship only posses impulse drive and its main function is simply to crash through to the interior of an enemy vessel and allow a small number of Kazon to take over during the confusions this causes.

Kazon Raider/Fighter: [3]
"There are two ships of the exact same design but of radically different size - the tiny shuttle like raider and the larger multideck raider. The raiders are highly manueverable vessels that alone do not posses a great threat but a large group of weapons can cause significant damage on larger vessels. The smallest of the vessels are one man scouts that are stored in the larger vessels. The drive is in the rear and consists of warp and impulse drive. Smaller ships can enter planet atmosphere but it is not certain whether larger vessels posses this ability. Shielding can withstand limited phaser fire. Kazon vessels do not posses a cloakind device however in 2371 the renegade Seska made several modifications to their ship to temporarily conceal them.

Known Kazon Sects:
"As of 2372 there were approximately 18 Kazon Sects. Known Kazon sects encoutered by USS Voyager include:
Final Analysis:
"Considering the level of technology now possessed by the Kazon it is no surprise they do not have the EMH. It is not an unreasonable assumption to believe the Kazon do not posses an advanced medical technology. From their demands one can safely hypothosize that the Kazon in this particular sect are in need of medical assistance - a plague on their ship? An ill maje? More information needs to be known before the exact nature of their needs can be known.
"However it is important to keep in mind that Ensign Seska sold in secret Federation technology to the Kazon. It was known she sold Replicator technology but she may have sold other technology. Keep in mind some Kazon vessels also posses the ability to temporarily conceal themselves from Federation vessels. However the modifications done by Seska are on file and I have transferred that data to the tactical station.

OPS Log Stardate 030515:

Thanks to the new technology u-uploaded to us by Ambassador Koebera's people, w-we were able to quickly disable the drive system on the Kazon ship. We d-destabilized their warpfield and I-I am assuming, but will know better once I analyze the sensor readings, that in the process sent a feedback i-into their power systems which shut their engines down as well. I am definitely g-going to make it a point to talk with the Ambassadr and find out more about the stuff they gave us.

Commodore Fyrstk has turned us around and offered aid to the kazon. We have found out it is the Kazon-Relora who now seems t-to be lead by Jal Haster, which is slightly d-different from Ratchet's data. At any rate, they seem to think their sect h-has been infected by a Federation illness.
