Dora Fane is the daughter of Senator Geza Fane and Dr. Brita Fane. Not much is known of Antosia or their way of life.
Dora Fane was trained as a child to be a doctor. She did her residency on Sowtha, the third moon of AntosV. It is a Class L and harbors a Federation refueling station. She became friends of the commander of the station, Commander Torah. She met many federation citizens and starfleet officers. She was sponsored by Captain Reese of the USS Nightingale, a medical ship that was returning from a mission and needed to be repaired and Sowtha, being the closest station. She was accepted into Starfleet Medical Academy. She graduated with honors.

While serving on the DS 3, she was approached by starfleet intelligence to go undercover using her special talents. She was trained to be a very effective agent. She is a superb marksman. Keeps her head in stressful situations. She is a fast thinker and good at getting out of tight situations. She is a good pilot.
She was a very effective agent on Cadassia. She was on the personal staff of Enabran Tain of the Obsidian Order for 2 years. She was essential in the gathering of information on many Cardassian plans.
She was then sent to Romulus and she was assigned to help Ambassador Spock. She foiled numberous plans that would have gotten him caught and killed. Her ability was useful in drawing Romulan patrols away from the Ambassador by "becoming" him.
She returned to Earth and was then sent to DS9 to learn all she could on the founders. She was assigned to the medical staff as a nurse.
When the Cardassians and the Dominion joined ranks, she was then sent back to Cardassia to gather information. She spent most of the war undercover as a doctor for the Cardassian High Command. She was almost caught while getting out some vital information that allowed the federation to plan the Battle to retake DS9 and take back control of Bajor and the wormhole. She was able to escape and get out of the city to her small cloaked shuttle outside the city.
She was assigned to the USS Nightingale under Captain Reese as CMO per her request. She was wounded while on an away mission to rescue and treat wounded who were survivors of a battle and had escaped when their ship was destroyed. Their shuttle was disabled and they managed to land on a small Class M moon and avoid Jem Hadar who were searching for them. They had managed to get a distress signal out and Fane was in charge of the mission to rescue them. She was shot while getting the last of the wounded into the shuttle and then managed to lift off and dock with the Nightingale. She was then transferred to the USS Patriot toward the end of the war as CMO under the command of Captain Kaylan Zen.
