Dr. Molly O'Leary acknowledged the message from the "Captain" and started to pick up her away pack. She'd been getting ready for the possibility of beaming to the distressed ship since boarding the Cavalier. But apparently they weren't beaming after all. She absently wondered why as she picked up her medical bags. She had no idea how extensive the crew was, or what species they were, so she packed for any eventuality.

Her most worrisome thought, however, was that if they couldn't beam, how would she get severely injured persons over to the Cav? Of course, as a Doctor, intern really, she didn't have much engineering/transporter knowledge anyway.

With a bag slung over each shoulder and one in each hand, Molly hurried on her way to the shuttle bay. Please, God, she thought to herself, let me be able to help.

"Consulting About Baby and Momma" ... posted 060828

Andy left the tank area, knowing twothings. One, Amanda probably wouldn't let Merosa demonstrate theaspirator. And two, that she knew it was just a stop-gap solution.
Right now, he wanted to consult with RisingSun. Granted, he probablywas the best hybrid doctor in the quadrant, but it never hurt to get asecond opinion. From what he was seeing, another surgery was in thiskids future. It would be nice if they could hold that off as long aspossible though. He also had hopes that medications would help ease theproblem long enough for the little mite to grow, and perhaps overcomeit on his own.

Peach looked over the arm one more time "Fine it is now.. no more fights..don't want to see you here again..too many in one week"She glared at the young human male. He looked a tad sheepish but shecould still see a good deal of fire in those eyes. Sighing she wavedhim off and turned to head for her office, she would update her recordsand then see how things were going with Amanda and the Baby. As shecame around the corner towards her office she saw Andy, he looked as ifhe wanted to speak to her. "Need something Dr Andy?" she gave a friendly smile.

"Yes, Dr. RisingSun," Andy said, in his concern forgetting to smileback, "Amanda's baby is having problems breathing," as he spoke, hehanded her the tricorder with the readings he'd just taken, "He's justhad surgery, I don't want to put him through that again. At least sosoon." He shook his head. "I'm hoping for a second opinion." At last,he offered her a weak smile, "Though I'm sure I know what it will be."

She took the tricorder and looked over the readings. Tail went from fairly lazy movement to somewhat snappish. "Hmmmm...Agree i do that surgery so soon would not be best..if helped. " she handed it back to him running treatments through her head as to what might be best. "Thizadineor Milocticin might be a good option to try ..you would know thatbiology better then I do..do what you think is best"

Andy nodded, looking at the tricorder readings again after she gave itback as if the results would be different. He wished it were at anyrate. "I think I'll try the Milocticin first. It has a better successrate with Dauphin's anyway."
Looking back up at RisingSun, he asked, "Were you going to be checking on Amanda?"

"Yes, in a few moments. Then I am going to go off duty for a few hours..I'll be on call" She rubbed between her eyes "I want you to make sure you too get some rest. Lets get this baby better"

Andy nodded, but didn't intend to leaveMedbay today. He could nap in his office as easily as at home anyway. As long as Colonic wasn't on duty, then he'd spend most of his time inthe shared office, complaining about everything and anything. "Good,I'm a little concerned about her. I would hate to see anxiety shut downher milk production. She's always been a bit of a worry wart." He gaveher a small smile, "Thank you for the consultation. I'll get topharmacy and start Patrick on meds immediately."

Lt. Commander Hunter ... "Dlan Chase" Posted 060902

On:
Chase arrived at the shuttlebay, his mind a thousand miles away.  In his had was a data PADD.  He was calculating the relative motion of both vessels for the shuttle's pilot.  The alien ship was dead in the water, so to speak, but that didn't mean she was still.  Even dead, she was still moving at a fairly high relativistic pace along the same course she'd been moving before she'd suffered whatever calamity that had befallen her.  With the total lack of sensor resolution in this region, the shuttle pilot was going to have to rely on an estimate based upon the derelict's current speed and reckonings based on her position at the time of the shuttle's launch from the Cavalier.

To say that Dylan was sweating was an understatement.  If he was off, they'd be flying around blind.  After all, the starship had nearly collided with the alien ship as her own sensors had been severely compromised.  The shuttle would be much worse off.

In addition to the PADD he was working on, he had a belt clip that had been programmed with the mission profile up to the current moment.

He looked up and gave a small grin to everyone in the 'bay.  "Sorry I'm a little late.  Getting the latest positional data on the alien craft took longer than I thought."

He handed out the PADDs to everyone.  "This is the most up-to-date accumulation of data were have, including a correlation of Bridge sensor logs and what little info we've managed to gather on the vessel.  Once we launch, we'll have to navigate based solely on calculated vectors.  Sensors will most likely be blind.  In addition, before we actually move away from the Cavalier, I'd recommend we employ a regenerable monofilament fiber-optic cable be anchored as a tether.  It can be played out as we go, and hopefully it'll maintain a fix on the ship for us should we miss our target.

Gaila, President of the Intergalactic Trade Organization... "The Rise and Fall of the Interglactic Trade Organization" ... posted 060907

Gaila sat in wonder in his office. It was a simple story, really. They always were. Like anything else, it started with a woman.

He had been pursuing Solan Dahl for years, since the days she was aboard the Wyld Foxx, and he was pretending to be David Gailan, a smooth talking human representative for the GTO, resupplying the ship. Yes, he had paid for plastic surgery because he knew deep down that she would never accept him as he was, a Ferengi. After awhile, he decided there was no way he could lie to her any longer, and showed her his true form, assuming his role as President, and CEO.

Needless to say, there were some complications. Sure, she loved him, but it was hard to accept his Ferengi form, he knew that. So he showered her with gifts, invitations, and offers of oo mox, as any good Ferengi man would do. It must have been a stressful time in her life, because she was less than hospitible to him in return. Alas, it was no matter. Gaila knew that there were always complications when it came to matters of the heart, and he held steadfast.

Fast foward a couple of years, and Gaila's business was becoming all the more profitable with the advent of his product: The Ferengi Bear. Cutest cuddlemate in the galaxy! It had sold by the millions, in all shapes and sizes, coming in different colors...with seperate accessories as well. Pasteur Station was where the GTO called its headquarters, and that's the last he had heard of his beautiful Soli.

So, the GTO moved their headquarters to Pasteur Station, with thanks to the quartermaster, who was a little bit of a pain to deal with. Fortunately, Gaila had Nausicaan guards at his side at all times. The fleet was big. Shipping was going well. Profits were through the roof. Gaila grew lonely without his heart, but he knew she would return one day.

Two more years later, profits had been declining. It seemed the Ferengi Bear was just another fad, and it was out of fashion now. Due to some...minor oversights regarding corporate spending...trips to Risa, custom space yachts, the company had been losing money for some time. Gaila decided to return to Pasteur, get the company in line, and track down Soli.

That brings him to the present. Sitting in his office, and looking at the figures.

He was broke.

Gaila checked the padd again, and panicked. Broke! How could his happen to him?!

It began earlier in the day, when he went to pay his rent...the quartermaster had told him his account was overdrawn, which he managed to delay payment for a couple of days, as it was obviously a mixup with the bank.

Then came his experience at the bar.

The barkeep looked at Gaila, holding a padd in front of him. "Your tab. Your corporate account can't pay it, it's empty. And it's expensive bringing fresh grubs from Ferenginar. Listen..I'm on my way out of here. It's a temporary position, and I'm due to transfer to Epsilon Ceti IV this afternoon. I need the money now."

Gaila panicked. This was the second time today his accounts had shown as empty. He offered some excuses, but when he went back and looked at the books, he found that the quartermaster and barkeep were right. There wasn't a bar of latinum to his name.

So, as any good Ferengi would do, he cursed the Divine Treasury, and wept. Whining and wailing could be heard from shops around the promenade.

Gaila, FORMER President of the ITO ... "Unemployment" ... posted 060907

After a couple hours of crying his Ferengi eyes out, Gaila came to. He had to think of something, and fast. It was then that he remembered what the barkeep had told him:

"Your tab. Your corporate account can't pay it, it's empty. And it's expensive bringing fresh grubs from Ferenginar. Listen..I'm on my way out of here. It's a temporary position, and I'm due to transfer to Epsilon Ceti IV this afternoon. I need the money now."

A light started to twinkle in his eye as he had his first good idea in years. A bar would be something profitable on a station, and he was damn good at running a business. Well, he had been before he got carried away with certain expenditures that came with a very successful company. Ferengi Fortune 500 had named him as one of the most promising entreprenuers in the galaxy.

Gaila tugged on his suit to straighten it, pushed back his chair, and stepped out of his office, red eyes and all. He just needed to find someone to talk to. And like a gift from the Grand Negus himself, there she was. He looked frustrated. In all the commotion, he hadn't had time to sharpen his teeth today! Gaila sincerely hoped she wouldn't mind.

There was Judy, walking down the promenade, and looking like she had important business to carry on. Gaila knew that nothing was more important than keeping a bar going, so he decided to intercept her, and interrupt whatever she was doing. He scurried down the corridor after her. "Excuse me! Commander! I have a business proposition for you that can't wait."

"Ferengi Proposition" ... posted 060907

Judy finally founda minute during her normally busy day and she was going to do what sheshould have done a few days ago! The station's head nurse had had ababy and she'd yet been down to visit or see the youngster. Not verynice when the command was this small and somewhat tight knit. Still, she'd been told that the baby was in NICU due to some birth defects, probably caused by it's hybrid status.
She was moving quickly through the Promenade, hoping not to get caughtup in any conversations that would prevent her from getting to Medbayagain, when she heard someone call her. At least she thought he wascalling her..

Snip:
"Excuse me! Commander!  I have a business proposition for you that can't wait."

Judy glanced over and saw the Ferengi. Galactic trade something orother she remembered. She supposed she could spare a moment anyway asshe automatically corrected him, "It's captain now. Can you walk andtalk, I'm on my way somewhere," she gestured in the direction she hadbeen moving.

"I apologize, Captain," Gaila replied, offering a formal bow to her andthen scurrying to catch up as she began to walk.  "Well, it has come tomy attention that the current barkeep is only a temporary one, who isleaving this evening.  I've been toying with the idea of quitting theGTO for awhile now, it's gotten tiring after 6 years of running it. And I was thinking...a barkeep would be a much less stressful job.  So,I prepared here a contract to trade my GTO corporate yacht...for thebar."
He reached out and extended a PADD to her, smiling with his devilish, Ferengi grin.

Startled, Judy stopped, turned and looked at him, "The barkeep isleaving?" She hadn't heard. But then again, she didn't frequent the baron a normal basis. But she knew that having some kind of recreation wasimportant to a crew, not to mention civilians. True, there was aStarfleet holodeck, but only one (that worked) and scheduling time init was difficult due to demand.
The bar boasted three holosuites, but you had to pay to use those. Andthat was aside from the other, obvious attractions of a bar. If thebarkeep was leaving, a valuable recreation source would close down. That would lead to stressed workers, civilian and fleet alike, and thatcould lead to problems, like the riot she didn't want to see a repeatof.
She glanced at the PADD before resuming walking. The ship seemedvaluable enough, but she wasn't 100% sure. "Tell you what. TheQuartermaster would be in charge of this anyway, but what if I go withyou to meet him, to make sure something gets worked out?"

Gaila couldn't help but smile even wider.  The negotiations couldn'thave gone more smoothly.  The federation types were always quick withtheir allegiances, not like the shrewd Ferenginar businessman.  Or wasthere something else to her so pleasant attitude.  He had run into thecaptain a few times before, perhaps she remembered him.
Focusing on her eyes, Gaila tried to figure out the situation a littlebit more.  Sure, she was hurried, but Judy had something else there. That's when he knew it.  She was attracted to him.  But then, whowasn't?
"Thank you so much com--, ahh, captain.  I assure youI will make this station proud with word across the galaxy of thegreatness of the Atlantis Station Bar...and soon to be Bar and Grill! Or perhaps I should rename it Judy's Place, in your honor?"  Rule of Acquisition 33:  It never hurts to suck up to the boss.

Judy chuckled, though she thought she saw something odd twinkle in hiseye for a minute. Then again, who could tell with Ferengis.. Sheresumed walking again, "When do you want to meet with thequartermaster? My schedule is pretty full, but I can probably spare afew minutes this afternoon. Unless you can wait, next week might bebetter."

"This afternoon would be great," Gaila said, not sure as to why she waschuckling.  He thought naming the bar after her was a wonderful idea. Women never seemed to make any sense.  He did take note on that shewanted to meet with him later, and took it as a sign.
"I have alot scheduled this afternoon," he acted disinterested, looking away atsome of the shops for a moment that they were passing.  "How about thisevening?  We could...meet with the quartermaster, then maybe havedinner?"  And if all went well, share a holosuite...

    Is he flirting with me?
she wondered to herself, astonished. She had to work to keep fromlaughing outright, though her eyes twinkled merrily at the thought ofthis little Ferengi having the... guts to try. It waslonely at the top, but not that lonely! Keeping as sober an expressionas she could, she said, "No, this afternoon is fine. I'm sure Mastersondoesn't work evenings anyway." Not that she wanted to either! Anddinner.. There was a great difference between gagh and tubeworms, andshe didn't want to see ANYone schlucking up tubeworms... She shudderedinwardly.
"Excuse me just a moment," she said, then tapped her commbadge andcalled the Quartermaster. She quickly set the appointment for earlyafternoon, then looked at Gaila, does that work for you?"

Gaila shook his head, annoyed that she seemed to overlook the fact thathe had said he was busy in the afternoon.  Still, this wasn't somethingthat could wait.  Who knew how many were in line to assume thisposition.  It would be a shame if there was to be no Judy's Place onthe station.  It seemed she wasn't quite ready to admit her feelingsjust yet either.  Women were slow to act, he had known that fromexperience.  Well...except for dabo girls.
"Yes, yes...Isuppose I can do this afternoon.  We'll just have to do dinner someother time," Gaila said confidently, and with a nod.  "I'll be in theGTO headquarters cleaning out.  You can contact me when you're ready."
He offered one more smile to her, before giving her a pleasant bow andwalking back in the opposite direction.  He considered kissing herhand, as he had seen in many old Terran films as a gentlemanly thing todo, but decided there was no reason to start adopting hewmon culture. It just led to being weak.

He got away before she could find a polite way of saying she would havedinner with him when the Klingon sun was a cold chunk of ice in thesky... Still, a bar was a useful thing, and heaven knew there weren't alot of people beating down the door to open one. Not on this out of theway, half-manned station anyway. She shrugged as she continued her waytoward Medbay, it wasn't like he would have much opportunity to repeathis invitation. She'd probably hardly see him again, since she wasn't afrequenter of the bar.
She considered letting Masterson handle the meeting alone, but she knewhe could be cantankerous. She couldn't see him getting along with thisFerengi, and would probably not see the closing of the bar as aproblem, since she knew when he did drink, it was in his own quarterswith a game in one hand. She resigned herself to having to go.

"Cmdr, I am not too big," Mak rumbled suddenly. "I can squeeze into the shuttle...comfort is not a priority when dutyrequires otherwise.  I suggest Ensign ch'Thane stay here and continueto scan with short and long range scanners."

"
Kaemon nodded.  "Very well, Mr. Hemphon.  You are in command of the away team.  Send Mr. ch'Thane to the bridge."

***

Ensign Randal finished putting in as much portable equipment he could, without taking up the entire shuttle.  One contingency he did preparefor was transporting people off that ship.  He put the new portabletransporter signal enhancers in with the other engineering equipment. He wasn't totally certain, but maybe this area of space had too muchinterference for transporting.  The signal enhancers would help.

Molly O'Leary arrived at the shuttle bay, lugging her bags. She pausedto catch her breath before boarding, wondering why they could make anantigrav cart but not an antigrav bag. She stuck her head in theshuttle and noticed the engineer was already there, "Hello," she said,"Is there room for me and my friends?" She smiled, indicating her bags.

Mike hurried over to help the doctor with her stuff.  He wasimmediately taken with her.  "We sure do," he said grabbing her bagfrom her.  "You may also want to check the equipment already on theshuttle.  I have already loaded some portable medical equipment."

Molly smiled at the engineer, "Thank you, I'll do that." As he tuckedaway what she'd brought, she checked what he'd loaded. Interestingarray of things he'd brought, some she wouldn't have thought of, someshe didn't think would fit in the tiny shuttle. "Looks like we'reprepared for just about anything." She hoped they wouldn't need any ofit. But the feeling in the pit of her stomach told her they probablywould.

Mak suddenly appeared in the shuttles doorway, "Make sure there is room for four environmental suits, Ensign Randal!"  He turned away and looked towards Ensign Shar ch'Thane as the youngAndorian finished sitting down the last of the helmets.  Next to thempiled on the floor as well were four EV suits, each with a life supportunit, and four pairs of gloves and boots...one pair of each twice aslarge as the rest.

After the realization that the Brikkar was indeed on the away mission, and the tough of how much closer things were about to become, MikeNodded.  "Yes, sir," he said to the Security chief.  He then proceededto load the EV suits into the shuttle.  Once completed, he turned toHemphon.  "The shuttle is ready Lieutenant."

Molly looked at all the equipment they were loading, as well as theoutsized Brikar and hoped it wasn't far to where they were going. "Iwonder, she said, almost to herself, "if it would be better to get intothe suits now, rather then when we arrive. There doesn't seem to bemuch changing room."

Mak leaned and peered into the shuttle again, gave a disapproving grunt before he stepped back again,"Agreed, Doctor.. we will put the suits on now.  Do one last inventorycheck of your medical equipment.  Make it fast as enough time has beenwasted..." His voice suddenly boomed, "ch'Thane!"

Shar quickly came over and handed each one of the other three a phaser.  "Heading to the Bridge now as instructed sir."  Mak moved his upper torso forward in acknowledgment and the young Andorian quickly headed out.

Molly took the phaser with some dismay. If she'd thought about it,she'd have realized there would be a need for her to carry. She wasused to working on the station, no one had a phaser on them in Medbay, though there were some locked up nearby just in case. She wasn't thatused to away missions, one of the perks of a station assignment. Nowthat she was holding a phaser, she was starting to worry about whatthey'd find over on that ship.
She shook herself out of it, there was no time for unfounded (so far)fears or dithering. As quickly as possible, she gathered up her EV suitand got into it in the relative privacy of another unoccupied shuttleso she didn't have to leave the hanger. Finally ready, she returned tothe shuttle they were using and checked over her medical supplies yetagain as ordered. She was as ready as she was going to get.

EnsignRandal donned his suit quickly.  He rechecked everything and attachedthe phaser to the suit.  He then entered the shuttle, and rechecked theequipment.  With the engineering equipment and the power from theshuttle, Mike should be able to get minimum lighting and someatmosphere, but the latter would take longer.  Satisfied with what hehad packed, he turned to the Brikar.  "We are ready, Lieutenant."  Hethen moved to the pilot's seat and buckled in.

Dylan looked up and gave a small grin to everyone in the 'bay.  "SorryI'm a little late.  Getting the latest positional data on the aliencraft took longer than I thought."

He handed out the PADDsto everyone.  "This is the most up-to-date accumulation of data werehave, including a correlation of Bridge sensor logs and what littleinfo we've managed to gather on the vessel.  Once we launch, we'll haveto navigate based solely on calculated vectors.  Sensors will mostlikely be blind.  In addition, before we actually move away from theCavalier, I'd recommend we employ a regenerable monofilamentfiber-optic cable be anchored as a tether.  It can be played out as wego, and hopefully it'll maintain a fix on the ship for us should wemiss our target.

Now in his own EV suit as well, Mak grunted in acknowledgment, "Verywell, Petty Officer Chase.  Get in your suit now as we will beembarking in five minutes.  Ensign Randal will be piloting.  I willinform the Cmdr. of your recommendation. "  As Dylan nodded and turned to put on his suit, Mak tapped his badge, "Cmdr.Washi!  We will be ready to take off in 5 minutes.  As we will benavigating solely on calculated vectors, Petty officer Chase hasrecommended we employ a regenerable monofilament fiber-optic cable beanchored as a tether.  I agree that it would be wise, Sir."

Captain Judy Kaha ... "A Little Chat"

NPC by Hunter
"A Lttle Chat"
Captain Judy Kahawas slightly early to her meeting with the Ferengi and theQuartermaster. When she'd arrived at Medbay with the intention ofseeing Amanda and her new baby, she had not expected that they would bebusy dealing with complications. She didn't want to distract anyonefrom what they were doing, though they did tell her she could visit fora minute anyway.
So she had stuckher head in the private tank area and offered her congratulations tohead nurse. She was a little surprised to find the woman dressed as ifshe were attending a Betazoid wedding. Though JD in a form fitting wetsuit was a sight to behold. Still, she only stayed long enough to get alook at the baby and proclaim him adorable.
She had two otherstops to make before she found herself at the Quartermaster's office. As the doors slid open before her, she wondered what game he'd beplaying today.

In preparation for,or perhaps in honor of, Captain Kaha's visit, Quartermaster MastersonQuartermain tidied up his office. Ok, he mostly directed the tidying ashis assistant did the actual work. Though he did polish his own desk.He even managed to get out a scuff mark or two from his boots.
He was all beamingsmiles when Judy walked in early. "Welcome Captain!" He exclaimed as heactually got up out of his seat and gallantly escorted her to thecomfortable chair by his desk, (the recently appropriated chair fromhis assistant's desk rather than the usual uncomfortable one he kept todiscourage people from hanging around).
Taking the seatnext to her, (the uncomfortable one, not his own behind the desk), heshoved a holopic at her, "Look! My dear nephew was promoted to Lt.Commander!"

Judy chuckled, taking the holopic and nodding, "Yes, I know. That happened severalmonths ago, right?" He was a handsome young man, looking proudly at thecamera, showing his pips to his equally proud uncle.

"Ah, yes, Iremember that now. But did you know this!?" he demanded, wide smilequickly returning, "He is now," He paused for dramatic emphasis,"Acting First Officer!"

Laughing, Judyhanded back the holopic, "No, that's wonderful! You must be so proud."She stated the obvious as Masterson's uniform stretched to contain hisrapidly swelling chest. Luckily there was enough material left overfrom where he was sucking in his gut.
After discussingthe nephew's accomplishments for a few minutes, Judy brought upsomething that was on her mind after her visit to Medbay. "I waswondering, Masterson, if there was a way to give Amanda Gavinson moreroom now that she's had her baby.."

Masterson justchuckled, shaking his head. "You're too slow by half, Captain. Andymade the request yesterday and JD got Engineering and Maintenanceworking on it almost immediately. She'll have a double sized swim areaby the time she's released from Medbay. And I only had to relocate oneperson to do it!" He chose not to mention who that one person was sinceif Colonic was going to complain, he'd have done so already. But intrue coward fashion, he was more bluster than substance.
They had a chuckleabout that, then he added, "Speaking of special quarters. You shouldsee all the stuff they had to replicate for your new Brikar! Did youknow they sleep on rocks?"

Judy chuckledagain, not many people got to work with Brikars as there were only ahandful in Starfleet and most people were impressed with the sheer sizeof everything they needed. She kind of smirked mysteriously, "Yes,actually, I did know that."

Masterson's brows went up and a slow grin split his face, "Oh really... do tell, do tell," he said, making sly innuendo.

She laughed, knowing she had gotten him, again. "It's a fascinating story," shewinked, pretending it was scandalous. Then grinning in an I-gotcha kindof way, she told him the story of meeting a pair of identical twinBrikars on the transport supply ship that took her to earth before shewas given command of Atlantis.
"They were mad forpoker. Hosted a game four nights a week in their quarters. Good playerstoo. But their biggest strategy, and it worked quite well, was in theirfurniture.." She grinned, "You see, their chairs are also rock-like.Did you know that when a person has a 'tell' it becomes more pronouncedwhen they are uncomfortable?" She smirked, "I picked up on that after afew games. Luckily, Klingons don't regard comfort as particularlyimportant." She winked.

Masterson burst outlaughing. He'd have to remember that. He glanced at the chrono on thewall and frowned. The Ferengi was due, should have been here 30 secondsago actually. He got up to move to his own chair behind the desk, "Howlong you wanna wait for this guy?" he grumbled. He may take most of hisresponsibilities lightly, but he still believed that one does notdisrespect the commanding officer.

Judy glanced at thechrono as well, and had to hide a chuckle. She was used to Masterson'sways by now. "Oh, I think we'll give him a few more seconds, if that'sok with you," she said.
Then, rememberingsomething Gaila had said, she leaned forward and shot Masterson anI'm-so-dead-serious look, "Listen, no matter what he says or offers topay... do not let him name that bar after me. Understood?"

Taken aback alittle, Masterson just nodded, "Yeah, no prob." Why the heck would shethink it would be named after her? In his experience, Ferengi's usuallywanted things named after themselves. Reminded him of this 21st centuryTerran who named everything he ever owned or built after himself. Someof it was still around. Strange custom if you asked him.. Before hecould ask why she'd think something like that, the doors swished open.

Mr. Gaila ..."Oh My God What Should I Wear" ... posted 060921

Unlike Judy, Gaila was in his own quarters pacing back and forth
before their meeting, and worse: he was late.  Maybe it was for the
best that he was late, becuase it would make her desire him more.
Women liked their men aloof and distant.  Good thing she didn't know
that he was standing in front of his closet trying to pick his best
suit.  His GTO days had been lavish, and he wore some of the most
expensive designer clothes out there, all expensed to the corporation
of course.  And now they were in his closet, or on his bed, having
tried on several outfits already.

It was so frustrating!  Finally, Gaila went with the lavish red one.
Standing out and in such style always made a woman weak in the knees.
Now it was time to determine which scent to wear.  "Computer," Gaila
said, "replicate me the most popular fragrance with human females."

In his replicator appeared a bottle of some cologne or another, and he
sprayed it, stepping into the mist the bottle created.  Gaila made a
face and stuck out his tongue.  It was absolutely repulsive.  The
bottle said it smelled like a human spice "cinnamon."

Gaila looked at the time and realized just how late he was and started
to book it out of his quarters, walking briskly down the corridor.  His
heart was racing, and though he never would have admitted it, he was
nervous.  Judy really was beautiful, the more he thought about it, and
more than that, she seemed to like him.

He rounded the corner and stepped inside of Quartermain's office.  The
last time he was here, he had his two Nausicaan bodyguards try to
indimidate him into giving the Galactic Trade Organization some better
space, and really cheaply.  This time he didn't really have so much to
bargain with, except for his stock sales, which he prayed no one
noticed the little "insider trading" that was going on.
Just the sight of the captain made Gaila smile, and he bowed cordially
like he had seen people do in some of the old Earth movies.  He really
was going all out.  "Good evening," Gaila said, "shall we get this
meeting started?

Ensign Weezil looked over the engineering requests board.  With Lt.Aster tied up in  the infirmary, and Ensingn Randal out on an awaymission, Sly was in charge.  He looked over te requests.  HIs eyeswindened (As if they could get any bigger), when he saw the latestorders from the chief engineer.

Apprrently they wanted to alter someone's quarters to give JD's squeezemore toom in her quarters,  Weezil pulled up the schematics of who wasin what quarters on that deck.  This wasn't fair!!  They were kickingDr. Colonic out of his quarters to make the noew facilitles for thatnurse and her new brat.  Colonic was gettain yet another raw deal.

As Sly prepared the list of materials needed, he shook his head.  Hecouldn't understand why everyone was dumping on Colonic.  Sly had satand had drinks with Colonicm and he wasn't such a bad guy.  He was justmisunderstood.  Sly shugged and assigned a couple engineers to assisthim in doing the rennovations,  He also made a note to contact Colonicand offer him a bunk until he got his own quarters.

Lt Commander Kaemon Washi & crew... Away Team...Away"

Doctor Molly O'Leary now understood what sardines feltlike. They'd all loaded themselves into the small shuttle, in their EVsuits, and she sat behind the science officer, who was in front next tothe pilot. Which meant she was sitting beside the large, rock-like,Brikar. Ok, yes, there was technically room for him, but with a medicalbag on her lap, and others stuffed beside her, sitting next to themountain made her feel decidedly tiny and almost squished.    Ok, true, he wasn't literally squishing her, but it still felt a littlecrowded. Luckily they wouldn't be traveling that far, and also luckily, she wasn't claustrophobic. Yet. This was a rescue mission, comfortwasn't really the issue. She waited, as patiently as possible, for thepilot to take off.

While everyone was buckling in, Mike deployed the monofilament tether. He checked the connection and the signal back to the Cavalier commsystem.  Everything showed green.  "Tether deployed, Lieutenant.  Weare cleared for launch."

"Notify the Commander and proceed,  Lieutenant."

"Aye,sir, " Randal responded.  He gave the signal to the Cavalier, andlifted off.  The incoming light dimmed as they traveled the launchshaft then disappeared completely as they emerged into the blackness ofspace.

Mak stared out into the space that engulfed themas the shuttle left the Cavalier'sHangerbay.

AsEnsign Randal piloted the shuttle around the Cavalier, the smallerstar-ship came into view. Mike gave the thrusters a quick boost whichpropelled the shuttle forward. He couldn't help but glance over to theCav.  This was a sight he always enjoyed best about piloting ashuttle.  Quickly though, the Cavalier disappeared from the mainviewport of the shuttle.  Mike again concentrated on the smaller shipahead of them.

Aboard the Cavalier, Kaemon watched the shuttlemake it's progress.  The Star-ship would fade in and out of view as thespace currents would gently make it sway back and forth.

As the neared the ship, Mike took one pass around.  Mainly he waslooking for the best access port, but he was also checking for externaldamage.  This would give him a head start to any repairs he might beable to assist with on the ship.  As he passed over top, he saw anaccess port directly on top.  At least Mike hoped this was the top.  Hegently set the shuttle to the ship's hull and engaged the magneticlocks.  Then he deployed the small sealing tube which would go from theshuttle's hatch to the star-ship's hatch.

"We're down, Lieutenant," Mike said to Hemphon.  "Use the bottom hatch."
