Lieutenant Matsu, "Shuttle Searching" submitted 060321

ON

Rohan Fyrstk stood stunned for a moment. He then looked to Katrina and Ronov. "My father says we can enter the shuttle. How did he know?"

"Simple," Ronov said, entering the shuttle. "Mal told him. Ah told you, Ah can feel him, and Ah can feel him, he can feel me and knows what I am up to. It's been that way since Ah was three."

"But that can't be Mal," Rohan protested. He too entered the shuttle and started looking around. "He looks younger than us, and we know where Mal is and that is no where's near here, right now."

"Roe," Ronov said, climbing under one of the panels. "For being the smarter twin, you can be really DUMB sometimes. They're from the past. That is Mal when he was.... 15, I think...... Katrina, I don't see how this thing coulda flown. Power levels are almost nil."

Katrina had made her way to the front of the shuttles. She was sniffing around and looking at the comtrol panel. "There was another person on this shuttle when it took off. A female. She was sitting here in the pilots seat. And according to this panel the primary power source is gone. It was running on back up batteries when it landed." Katrina headed for the back of the shuttle. "You know if I am not mistaken this is the kinda shuttle that was built by NASA in 1994."

"You aren't mistaken," Ronov said. "This is exactly lahke the ones te y put out back then."

"So," Rohan said thoughtfuly. "You're theory, Ronnie is that they come from the past, but even these types of shuttle weren't still around 12 years ago. And what happened to the person Katrina sensed?"

"This shuttle has some very old computers on board...Too bad we can't touch anything to see if they hold any information." Katrina smiled a mischevious grin. "It would be a shame if the computer accidentaly got turned on if someone were to accidentily bump into it." With a quick jab of her tail she hit the power button on the computer. As it came to life a face lo oked out at them from the screen.

"Well hello there Kiddies!! Any of you youngsters have a security clearance password? If you don't I would suggest you go find Josie and ask her..."

"Oh geez," Rohan said looking at the face on the computer. "Now we'rein for it."

"No we're not, Roe, "Ronov said. "Dad said we could look around as long as we didn't take anything apart. " He looked at the face on the screen. "Ah don't remember twentieth century technology including talking computers."

"No," Rohan said thoughtfully, "but if I remember Eagle history, the one science officer, named Josie, had an AI named Max."

"Max?" Ronov inquired looking at the computer screen. "Are y'all Max?"

"That's right. Well almost... I'm the Max Back Up. Just incase the main one got wiped. I normaly just hang out at the base or here in the shuttle when it is used." Max smiled up up at them. " Let's see. A kitten and two boys alone on a shuttle... Hmm I think thats the start of a joke but one for an older crowd. SO Kids!!! What's Up? What's the Haps?" Switches to a guy behind a fast food counter. "How can I help you today? Do you want fries with that?"

Katrina couldn't help but giggle. "Your a funny guy, Max. Tell me. Who were the last people on this shuttle?"

Max changes to a scene of the interior of the shuttle. " Lets see. Malachi was sitting here." An arrow appears over each person as Max says who they are. "His main squeeze Melody was sitting next t o him. Gwen was infront of them. This seat was empty at first. Then Tru as Co Pilot and Josie at Pilot. That other guy popped up and dissapeared with Josie as they went through the second portal." Lodikai appears in the seat next to Gwen as the shuttle is bathed in bright light. He can be seen pointing some sort of ram's headed secpter towards the front of the ship. When the light fades he and Josie are gone.

"Who was that goomer with the scepter," Ronov asked. And what happened to Josie.?"

"The 'goomer' looked like the Earth Norse god, Loki," Rohan remarked thoughtfully. "I remember reading about him and the mischief he would cause. That cou ld explain why they appeared out here."

Max shifts to looking like game show host. "DING! You are absolutly correct! The mystery man was indeed our universes version of the Norse god of Mischief. Known as Lodikai, he loves practical jokes, making trouble and doing everything he can to get the best of his Half Brother Thoridin the Thunderer." Max shifts again to look like Groucho Marx. "This boy is almost as smart as his older brother. Say the magic woid and win a prize..."

Rohan smiled proudly. He enjoyed being told he was as smart as Malachi. Ronov merely rolled his eyes at his twin's reaction.

"Yeah. HE got the brains and Ah got the looks," Ronov remarked.

" Wait a minuet...He said second portal. Did Lodikai open a second portal to misdirect the shuttle into our time period?" Katrian asked.

"Wow you kids are smart. What are they putting in your breakfast cereals these days?"

"Well now we know how they got here," Rohan commented. "We have to get this information up to my father."

Katrina nodded, lead the way out of the shuttle and to the turbo lift.

Meanwhile back on the shuttle Max's back up program watched them leave. "Guys? Um... Could you take me with you??? Or leave me something to read??" Max sighed and shut down the computer.

Commander Gwen Marqusa..."Whose Time-line Is it" ... posted 060327

:ON:

Lukas watched Dr. Hamza start her examination on the four "Eagle" crew who came through the portal. He looked at Gwen and motioned her aside away from the others.

Gwen followed Lukas aside. She was concerned about this whole situation. It was obvious that things weren't right. The question was, how to fix them. From the sound of things and all the trouble the Twins went through to go back in time to warn the Federation, things were in an awful state here.

When they were away from the group and Lukas was certain he could talk to Gwen in confidence, he turned to her. "Ah take it, you are still mah XO?"

Gwen hesitated a moment, "Well, I am still XO of the Eagle Captain. I'm not sure that I could say that I am still your XO sir. The thought of different timelines and different dimension makes my head spin."

Lukas nodded and thought for a moment. "Ah know the Federation has or had a real problem with tahme-lahe tampering, but Ah'm going to ask you, Commander.... Have you heard of the T'Kil?"

Gwen nodded, "Yes sir." She hesitated again, wondering just how much to tell Lukas about the Twins and what they did, or maybe what they were going to do. It really did make her head spin thinking about all of this.

She finally decided that it would be best to tell him. "We know more than we should Captain."

He raised an eyebrow at her statement. "In this case, Gwen, whatever you know is not enough. " He debated a moment to decide how much to tell her of her possible future, but if he could avoid any of this happening, including the recent death of his wife, he would do what he could.

"There is no Federation, anymore. At least not as you know it. This sector is terrible with pahracy and we're all doing what we cain just to stay alahve. The T'Kil have effectively destroyed Sector 001 and are still branching out."

"Aye Captain, we know as much." She moved further away from the rest. "Because of your sons. Rohan and Ronov. Today was not the first day I've seen them of about their current age."

This caught Lukas by total surprise. "When did you see them before?"

"In my time. They came back in time. To warn us about the T'Kil. They couldn't have been much older then they currently are now." She wasn't sure if she should tell Lukas about what happened to them.

Lukas brought his hand to his chin and considered this for a moment. He decided he didn't want to know more about his own future or that of his sons. Rohan and Ronov were both compulsive in their actions (Ronov more so), so he could see them pulling of a stunt like this. Especially when it concerned their mother which they took losing her very hard.

"And have you all taken the message they brought back to heart? Is Starfleet acting on it?"

Gwen gave a half smile, "I believe so, but then, they don't exactly tell us what they are up to, if you'll remember. They keep us on the outskirts in the Spaculaan Territory."

"Ah remember," Lukas said returning the smile. "Well, Ah don't recall the twins coming back in mah past, so Ah am guessing we are definitely in different realities. Which could be good for y'all and not so good for our future."

Gwen nodded, "Yes, I doubt things will improve in this timeline. I'm sorry to say that it's probably too late."

She turned and looked at her crew, "They do not know most of the details about what happened when your boys came back, nor the future that might possibly wait for them."

Lukas detected a note of sorrow in Gwen's voice. That could only mean the twins did not survive. He made a vow to give them both a huge hug later on today.

"Sufahce it to say, Ah don't have to worry about the prahme directive anymore, Gwen, and Ah don't know if it would applah in this case anyhow, but..."

Suddenly the red alert klaxon sounded again. Captain Matsu's voice came over the speakers announcing that a T'Kil ship had been detected.

"Lukas looked to Gwen. Sorry to cut this short, but Ah'm needed on the bridge."

Gwen nodded, "Aye Captain, you have your ship and crew to look after. If we can be of any help, please, let me know. Since this is not our future, we don't have to worry about contaminating the timeline."

Lukas smiled. "Rahght you are. For now just sit tahght. This is not mah usual stance, but with the T'Kil it is cut and run. We cannot stand up to them, so we have to avoid them at all costs."

Gwen nodded, "As you wish Captain." She returned to her crew as the Captain headed to the bridge to deal with the current situation.

Melody wondered exactly had happened to herself in this place. Was this a future timeline or another alternate reality? Had she never left her homeworld or was she already dead? Maybe she married Mal and they settled down to a life outside of Starfleet? A cold chill broke her train of thought. Evil, malicious, unwavering and it was comming towards the ship.

"They are comming..."Melody said to no one in general. A split second later the alarm klaxons blared.

RomnHaas: T-CO> Lukas tells me you have come from the past.
GwenivereMarqusa: Not just the past, but we have also determined that we are from a different universe.
RomnHaas: T-CO> ::nods:: Any leads on how to get back?
GwenivereMarqusa: Ronov has suggested a technology called sliding.
GwenivereMarqusa: However, from the sounds of it, it could be very risky to get the supplies we'd need.
RomnHaas: T-CO> :raises an eyebrow:: Sliding? Admiral Mallory's sliding?
GwenivereMarqusa: That is the name that one of the boys mentioned.
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> Had to be Ronov.
GwenivereMarqusa: ::chuckles:: Rohan didn't seem overly happy with the idea. I'm not sure if the risks are worth it.
RomnHaas: T-CO> It could work though. What type of power does that shuttle you came thru on have?
GwenivereMarqusa: How difficult would it be to get to the location of Moonbase Alpha?
GwenivereMarqusa: It doesn't really have it's own power
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> Unless it has been moved elsewhere it should still be above Earth's moon.
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> Though Ah'm certain it was destroyed.
GwenivereMarqusa: Ronov said he's heard it's not destroyed, just abandoned
RomnHaas: T-CO> No. I heard it wasn't destroyed. The T'kil had no interest in it because it was unoccupied.,br /> CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> ::thinks a moment:: Mahght be worth a look, but their ship mahght not do it without power of it's own. Plus it would need to tahme travel as well
GwenivereMarqusa: I have Mal, Ronov, and Rohan working on a list of supplies and a plan on how to use the technology to get home.
GwenivereMarqusa: I figured I could work on how to get the supplies. Since that is something I'm good at.
RomnHaas: T-CO>::thinks a moment:: I think I know where you can get a ship.
GwenivereMarqusa: Oh? where's that?
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> ::raises an eyebrow, and looks quizzically at Rommie::
RomnHaas: T-CO> Does the name H.M.S Bounty mean anything to either of you?
GwenivereMarqusa: the H.M.S. stands for "Her Majesty's Ship" and is a really old monicur. The bounty is a famous ship.
RomnHaas: T-CO> And it has an even more modern fame to it. It should even be in your history, Gwen, if our universes are that similar
GwenivereMarqusa: ::thinks for a moment, then smiles:: Captain Kirk
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> :Looks between the two:: What are you two talking about?
GwenivereMarqusa: He named the klingon ship that he used to go back in time the HMS Bounty
RomnHaas: T-CO> ::relates the tale of Kirk and the Klingon-bird-of-prey and the saving of the whales.::
GwenivereMarqusa: You saying you have a Klingon Bird of Pray?
RomnHaas: T-CO> And actually it waas Admiral McCoy who nicknamed the ship the Bounty. It was put in the Smithsonian Space museum because it was used to save mankind.
RomnHaas: T-CO> I don't have it, but the "Bounty" is still in the museum.
GwenivereMarqusa: picky picky picky ::grins:: Would it still be in usable condition?
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> You're saying to steal the bird-of-prey from the museum?
RomnHaas: T-CO> Gwen? You mean you've never been to the museum to see it? It's in pristine condition!
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> ::Nods:: They fished it out of the water and restored it to its original splendor.
GwenivereMarqusa: But, it's on Earth, is it not? I'm assuming that since the TKill went by the Moonbase Alpha, it must have attacked Earth.
RomnHaas: T-CO> I'm betting it's a bit dusty because it's been like 10 years at least since anyone's been there.
CommoLukasFyrstk: CO> She's rahght. Ah think it's been destroyed.
RomnHaas: T-CO> It's worth a look. If we're going to Moon-Base Alpha, we might as well look.
GwenivereMarqusa: True. But we should also try to come up with a contingent plan, just in case it's been destroyed.
RomnHaas: T-CO> Agreed. We can do that on the way. The Eagle should be repaired in 26 hours, so that gives us plenty of time to plan.

Gwen walked into the quarters she had been temporarily assigned too. It wasn't much, but it was a place that she could sleep and have a little bit of privacy. That was all that she really required. She walked over to the bed and sat down. She didn't plan on staying here long, just long enough to record a couple of things. Then she would head back up to the bridge. There was a lot of work that still needed to be done. Picking up a PADD that had been laying on her bed, Gwen began to type in a few commands. It didn't take long to begin the recording.

"Duty Log. Stardate . . . unknown.

"Instead of being back home after traveling to Josie's world, My Crew (Lt. Cmdr Lost, Acting Ensign Malachi Fyrstk, and Doctor Melody) and I have found ourselves in what, at first, appeared to be our future. Malachi's twin half brothers look to be in their mid teens here. About the same age they were when they came back in time to warn us about the TKill.

"I talked with Commodore Lukas Fyrstk, and after a short while we both concluded that this was not only the future, but also a different universe. This made things easier on all of us. While neither the Commodore, nor myself, thought it was a good idea for my crew and I to learn too much about this place, we did feel that we could take more liberties.

"Malachi is current working with his twin brothers in figuring out a way to use sliding technology to get us back home. We have been lucky in that endeavor so far. The information for the sliding technology is possibly found in Moon Base Alpha. It was reported destroyed when the TKill attacked Earth. However, we have found that the base is still in the sector, and so far there have been no sighting of the TKill in the area. Hopefully this luck will keep up.

"Lt-- err, Captain Haas has suggested that we use the Klingon Bird of Pray that Captain James T. Kirk used in his trip back in time to save the earth from destruction. I can only hope that the ship has been kept is good working order in the museum. Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling that it may have been destroyed with the attack on Earth.

"End Log."

Gwen tapped her PADD and closed the recording.

Tru Lost: @Aye sir. And this is Commander Marqusa.
Gwen: @Thank you for coming out Commander.
JD: Richards> ::His good eye narrows as he looks at Gwen:: You ARE Gwen Marqusa.
Gwen: @ I am Gwen Marqusa, but I am not Captain Gwen Marqusa. It's complicated, and the reason we are here.
JD: Richards> Did you slide?
Gwen: @Something like that. Though not by my own doing.
JD: Richards> Is that why you are here? To get a hold of the sliding technology?
Gwen: @ We are trying to get my crew and I back to the right place and time.
Gwen: @ Yes.
JD: Richards> Do you have a ship, or are you going to use the Eagle?
Gwen: @I would never dream of taking the Eagle. Captain Haas is working on obtaining a ship for the trip.
Gwen: @ The HMS Bounty
Lukas: CO> +[Richards]+ Commander, we could certainly use your help.
JD: Richards> The Bounty? THe Klingon ship? In the Institute?
Gwen: That would be the one.
JD: Richards> ::Thinks a moment, then smiles:: That could definitely work.
Gwen: It was Captain Haas' idea.
JD: Richards> Haas? He was once your... one of your fellow Eagle crew, right?
Gwen: In my universe, yes. Here, he has his own ship.
JD: Richards> Yeah, and so do you..... or this universe's Gwen Marqusa.
JD: Richards> And you seem every bit as daring as her too.
JD: Other 2> YEah. Captain Marqusa is responsible for the Stargus Rescue.
Gwen: @::grins::So I've been told. There are a LOT of similarities between our universes.
Gwen: @Please, I don't mean to be rude, but it would be better if you didn't discuss what happens to me in this universe.

JD: Henly> ::Blushes. :: Sorry, Commander. Of course.
v-Di': @Ronov> Wonders what is going on out there. :: Daggit! Ah cain't hear a thing, Mal.
Gwen: @It's okay. Commander, we should get going. Is it just the two of you?
JD: Richards> :: nods:: We're the only two who made it back.
Tru Lost: @I'll go get the other two. Then we should head to the shuttle.
Gwen: @::nods::
JD: Richards> [XO] You are going to need the sliding apparatus.
Gwen: @ You know where we can get it?
JD: Richards> As a matter of fact, I do.
Gwen: @As soon as Hailey gets back with the other two, lets go and grab the stuff and head out.

Commander Gwen Marqusa ... "Right Decisions" ... posted 060518

Note: This takes place in the final few seconds of the sim and goes a little after. :ON:

Gwen sat in the hard captain's chair on the old Klingon ship. She watched as the universe that her crew and she had ended up in vanish, to be replaced by a universe she hoped was hers. She also wondered what the outcome of the Eagle in that universe would be. It had taken every ounce her in body not to turn and help the ship. Even though she knew it would be a futile battle and would probably have cost the lives of her crew. It still didn't seem right to abandon the Eagle, who had done so much to try to get them home. However, they HAD done so much to try to get them home, and to throw it all away in a battle that would most likely find them all killed . . . or worse . . . that almost seemed worse then leaving. Actually, it would have been worse. They risked their lives to get us home. That was why she had decided to leave. That and the direct order from Lukas. Not that he was technically her senior officer. Still, she had as much respect for that Lukas as she did for her own Commanding Officer. The order just tipped her over the edge.

Now she had other matters to worry about. She put the thought of the other Universe out of her mind. She needed to focus on getting her crew all the way back to her Eagle. They still had their work cut out for them.

"Melody, verify that we are in the correct universe. Mal. Check the status of the ship, make sure we are ready for time travel. Then prepare for our trip. I don't want to be in this time any longer then we absolutely have to be."

Acting Ensign Malachi Fyrstk ..."Welcome Home" ... posted 060531

Lukas turned in the command chair to Hailey Wren, the cadet sent to start her Starfleet career. Lukas still wasn't sure *why* his ship was chosen, beings he currently did not have the best reputation with SB-325's commander, but that was neither here, nor there at the moment. "Cadet Wren," Lukas inquired. "Did we get the crew on that ship?"

Hailey looked down at her readings for a moment, almost not hearing the Captain. After a moment's hesitation she finally replied, "um, yes sir, they were transported to sickbay." She paused again, then looked over to where Lukas was sitting, "It's the rest of the Eagle crew sir. Commander Marqusa and the others were on that Klingon ship."

Lukas stood up at the news. "Our crew was aboard the Klingon bird of prey?"

"Yes sir. I've checked several times. Their bio scans were matched when they transported over. And their comm badges are now reading that they are in sickbay."

Lt. Commander Haas lifted his head from the science scanner. He and Lukas exchanged glances of disbelief, and Lukas definitely saw a look of relief pass the chief engineer's face as he heard the confirmation that Gwen was safely aboard the ship.

"Lt. Vanik," Lukas said to the young helmsman. "Mr. Haas and mahself will be in sickbay. You have the conn."

"Aye, sir," Vanik responded. He moved from the helm chair to the command chair as a replacement officer quickly took his place at helm. Haas made his way to the turbo lift to join Lukas.

As the lift started on it's way, Haas commented to Lukas, "I-I was studying the debris f-from the Klingon ship, sir.

"Oddly enough it was extremely old. The metallurgy analysis estimates almost a century old."

"Where in the devil did they come up with that ship, "lukas wondered aloud. "Did they travel to the past?"

"I-I don't think so," Haas replied. "The analysis would not have placed the age of the Klingon ship as it idid."

"Good point," Lukas said as the turbo lift doors slid open. He and Haas stepped out and quickly made their way to sickbay. "It seems the missing crew mahght have quahte a tale to tell."

The doors to sickbay slid open. The four missing crew members were quickly located. Lukas smiled broadly at the sight of his adopted son, Malachi. He then turned his glance to Gwen. "Commander. Welcome home. It seems you have had a bit of an interesting adventure."

Gwen looked over and caught sight of Rommie, she couldn't help but smile. Then she turned to Lukas, "Oh, that is one way to put it Captain." She looked to the rest of the crew who were still being evaluated by the medical staff, "Maybe we could use Ratch's office. It's a long story."

Rommie caught Gwen's smile. He resisted the heavy urge to hug and hold her tight. He realize, more than ever, that his feelings for her ran deep.

Lukas nodded in agreement to Gwen's suggestion. "The doctor's office it is then."

Gwen walked into the office and took up one of the two seats facing Ratch's chair. "It's been a hectic 4 or 5 days. It seems like it was a lot longer than that since we were taken from the Eagle."

Lukas moved around to Dr. Hamza's chair. Rommie took the seat next to Gwen. Both officers looked at her as if she had grown a second head.

"Commander," Lukas said evenly. "You and the crew have only been gone from the ship 40 hours."

Gwen raised her eyebrows and looked from Lukas to Rommie and then back to Lukas. It finally dawned on her that with the whole time travel thing, it might appear to have been only 40 hours to the crew left on the Eagle. She put her hand up to her head, as thinking of all the time travels and the implications gave her a headache.

Rommie reached over and lightly touched Gwen's hand. "A-are you okay? Shall we call the doctor in?"

Gwen looked up at Rommie and smiled, "I'm okay. My head just spins trying to think about all this. It's not really my area of expertise.

"It may have been only 40 hours for you. But for the four of us that you beamed off the Bounty, it's been almost 5 days. Thanks to time traveling and universe jumping."

"The Bounty?" Lukas asked.

"Time travel? Universe jumping?" Haas asked.

Gwen chuckled a little. "How about I start at the beginning?"

"That would be an excellent ahdea," Lukas told her. He sat back in the chair.

Gwen started talking about what happened from the moment they got into Josie's shuttle to the time they were beamed off the HMS Bounty. She tired not to leave anything out, but there was a lot of things to mention. It took about 30 minutes for her to finish the story, then she sat back and looked at the two officers.

"That c-certainly explains the metallurgy readings on the debris," Rommie said.

Lukas sat silent for a long moment. It was good to hear how well his crew worked to find the solution to the problem, but it was troubling to hear the T'Kil were still around and that the Federation had fallen.

Gwen looked to the Captain, "I'm not sure what to think about the T'Kil. In one sense, it was a different universe. But in the other, the T'Kil use sliding technology to go from one universe to another. I'm not sure how we can stop or prevent the T'Kil from taking over. But there has to be something."

"It will be something we cain think over," Lukas said with a more positive tone. "Ah will relay the information you have come back with to Command and let them do with it what they will. It is good to have you back safely, Gwen."

"It's good to actually make it back Captain. I definitely didn't want to remain in that time/universe.

"You know, I never did ask Mal what ship came in at the last moment to save us in our future. Now I'm kind of curious."

Standing in the doorway, young Malachi Fyrstk smiled. "I was just coming to tell you of that, sir."

Lukas looked over to the door. He again smiled, seeing his son safely back to the ship. He motioned for Malachi to enter and join them.

Gwen smiled to Mal, "So, what ship was it?"

Rommie also turned to look at the young acting-ensign. From Gwen's description of the events, it would appear Mal was going to become a very valuable asset to the Eagle crew.

Mal walked into the office. His eyes locked onto his father's as he said with much pride, " It was the USS Eagle."

It had been proven that a non-Selelvian, mating with a Selelvian, was not conducive to the non's healt. Not at all. This Oath led to some ... frustrations on the part of the practicing Selelvian. Hence, there were not that many Selelvians in Starfleet. Of course the fact that Selelvia had been kicked out as a member world of the Federation also added tot he lack of Selelvian officers. But that is a whole other story.

The Selelvians also have a power which has been knicknamed "the Knack." Using this they can basically persuade any non-Selelvian into doing just about anything they want. Anything. As part of the Oath, a Selelvian vows not to use "the Knack" while in the service. In their infinite wisdom, Starfleet officials never realized that were the Selelvian not to use this natural ability of theirs for extra-long periods of time, it would actually drive them crazy. Lt. Vanik, helmsman for the USS Eagle knew this. Why? Because he, himself, is a Selelvian.

Another little know fact, except to Vanik, was that on Starbase 325 and other starbases thoughout the Federation, there was an area where a Selelvian could find some release. It was this particular area on SB-325, and certain.... urges, which led Vanik to the station on that fateful day.

As he was returning to the more traveled areas of the station, he happened to see a young lady exiting a door just ahead of him. Now, this was really peculiar because Vanik knew that that particular door was a side entrance to the station's commanding officer's private office. how Vanik knew this, we can go into at another time. What made this circumstance so really peculiar was that the young lady was none other than Cadet Hailey Wren, the cute Academy cadet assigned to the USS Eagle.

Vanik watched her as she exited the office and all her mannerisms told him that she would be entirely embarrassed if she were spotted. Perfect. As Hailey also neared the main corridor, Vanik stole up behind her and just befre she stepped out into it he said, "Well. Cadet Wren. What a surprise seeing you coming out of such a prestigious office."

Hailey almost jumped when she heard Vanik's voice. She was not expecting anyone to recognize her, and she didn't want anyone to recognize her. At least it was only Vanik. Could have been much worse. Besides, he was cute. She wouldn't mind talking to him.

She stopped and turned to face him, smiling. "Hello there Lt. Nice to see you, as always."

She's good! Vanik thought. Caught with her hand in the cookie jar and she doesn't bat an eye.

He figured she had been up to something. Why else would she be coming out of the Commodore's office... the private entrance. "Sooooo.... what are you up to, Ms. Wren?"

Hailey smiled and moved closer to Vanik, "Catching up with old acquaintances. How about you Lt? Up to anything . . . fun?"

She IS good. Definitely one to watch.

"Pretty much the same, Cadet, Though it seems my friends aren't in as high a place," Vanik said smoothly. "Nor at such odds with my own commanding officer."

Hailey chuckled, "Yes, well, before I was on the Eagle, I spent three weeks on this station doing prep work. Commodore Stryker was just curious how I was adjusting to life on a starship.

"I told him it's been fun. I've met some very interesting people." She smiled, "Some more interesting then others."

"And how is it you came into such good company with Stryker, "Vanik asked. "For him to pay ANY attention to a cadet, you must have been REALLY GOOD at your work."

Hailey just smiled, raised her eyebrows suggestively, "I wouldn't be out here as a Cadet if I wasn't REALLY GOOD."

Ohhhhh, if I wasn't under Oath, we would have a GOOD time. Vanik thought again. "Yes. I bet you are."

Hailey smiled and started walking the way she had originally been headed, she turned and looked over shoulder at Vanik, smiling, "Catch you around Lt."

He gave her a knowing smile. "You certainly will, Cadet. You certainly will." He then turned in the opposite direction to get a bite to eat. These kind of encounters ALWAYS made him hungry.

Lieutenant Yoshiko Matsu ... "New Arrival" ... posted 060606

Leaving Earth beind had been hard. Because of her parents she had taken a planetside science job instead of going out on a ship to explore space as she had wanted. Everything with her parents was a battle. They expected her to do what they wanted, what they expected. Yoshiko was not that person. She wasn't the dutiful daughter who was going to stay in Japan and have children to further the clan. Her roots were deep in Japan's history it was true but she was not going to be bound to the Earth by them. She had fought with her parents just about every decision she had made for herself in her life. Her chioce to go into Starfleet academy, her choice of being a science officer instead of a security officer. She had turned down her first shipboard assignment instead taking a science post there on Earth. But when the chance to be a member of the USS Eagle had come up she could no longer ignore her longing to be in space. She had heard many exciting things about the USS Eagle and her crew. She wondered how much was rumor and how much was fact. She would find out...

Gwen stood on the bridge in the command area. She looked from the screen over to where Soren was stationed at tactical. It took every ounce of effort to restrain herself from moving over to the station and taking over. She still wasn't use to not being at the tactical station. There she felt that she had control of the situation. Here, she almost felt useless. It was one thing to order torpedoes and another thing to actually target and fire those torpedo. Now she had to trust someone else's abilities. Something she was going to have to learn to do. But why did she have to learn to do it in such a dangerous situation?

They were now surrounded by the Enclave, in Enclave territory. The prey of an ambush. She took her seat. On the panel next to her, she started to bring up a map of the area, along with all the scan information that had just been done. Hopefully they could think of something to get out of the situation that the arrogant admiral had put the Eagle into. If they got out of this situation she was going to have a few choice words with him.
