After traversing through the one-way portal, the Eagle had to allow sensors to come back online before taking any actions. Once the sensors had returned, they were able to detect black foreign masses on the Taladora's hull. Before shields could be raised again, some of the objects attached themselves to the Eagle's hull. McCloud ordered a low-power phaser burst fired at the Taladora, to see if they could dissuade the creatures from the science ship's hull. They did come off, but then went after the Eagle.
